SES Waterworks Essential Works

Essential work to lay a new water main on the A22

We are continuing to invest in an important water mains project in the Purley area to secure reliable drinking water for over 27,000 homes and businesses.

We plan to start these essential works from Tuesday 26 May. We expect our work to last for approximately eight weeks, which will include a road closure between the entrance of the Tesco store at Purley Road and Dale Road.

When possible, our delivery partner J. Murphy and Sons will be working 24 hours a day. However, these hours may vary depending on weather conditions, daylight, staff availability and any further Government advice. Any changes to our working hours will be detailed on our website.

For this part of the work, the road closure and traffic management will remain in place for the duration of the eight weeks.
Following our work on the A22, we will be working within the Tesco car park for an additional two weeks, which shouldn’t impact the traffic along the main road.

We appreciate our work is likely to cause some mipact on the wider community, therefore we have written to over 3000 residents advising them of our works and how they can find out more information. We are also keen to work with local businesses and charities to help minimise disruption as well as support with any COVID-19 initiatives.

Staying informed

During COVID-19 we are asking customers to visit our website as a first port of call for any questions they might have, as we are working hard to keep our phone lines free for emergency calls and to respond to vulnerable customers.

Thank you for your co-operation - stay safe
