Nursery

The nursery at Harris Primary Academy Kenley is an Early Years provision with warm and welcoming staff. Our staff are a dedicated team of individuals who work together in a professional manner to promote a wide and varied Early Years Provision.

Staff:

Teacher: Mrs Grimwood

Early Years Educator: Mrs Robinson

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Siddiqui & Mrs Salter

Our highly qualified and experienced staff offer the children learning through play based experiences, under the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This contributes to the development of the ‘whole child’ as our aim is to enable all our children to have fun and foster a love for learning.  We welcome your involvement in your child’s learning and development and hold regular open mornings so you can share with their learning journals with your child and talk to staff.

We cater for 26 children and we run two sessions per day.

Our morning session is from 8:45-11:45 and afternoon session 12:15-3:15.

At Harris Primary Kenley, we are proud of the unique provision we are able to offer our families.  All 3 year old children are entitled to 15 hours of free child care –equivalent to 5 x 3 hour sessions each week, which in most other schools is offered as a morning or afternoon session.  However, we appreciate families would benefit from greater flexibility in choosing when these sessions are taken.   For example, parents at Harris Primary Kenley can choose to send their children in for 2 sessions per day plus an additional afternoon or morning session; they can choose 2 morning sessions on two days of the week and then afternoon sessions for the remainder.

In addition to your allocated 15 hours each week, we offer the opportunity to supplement this with attendance at a lunch club from 11.45 – 1pm at a cost of £2.50 or the purchase of extra sessions at a charge of £12 so a child would attend the academy from 8.45am to 3.15pm.   This works well for some children who attend maybe 3, 4 or even 5 full academic days per week.

As of September 2017 a new government intiative of an extra 15 hours can also be claimed. Please visit the government website www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to check eligibility and further information.

Harris Primary Kenley believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn and visit us. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunities for all and we will endeavor to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which people feel free to participate fully in nursery life, regardless of their race or gender.

Our approach to learning embodies a positive attitude to life and learning as they prepare to start their journey through school life. We aspire to encourage our children to feel equipped to play an active role in life as they grow and flourish in our care.
