Home Learning

Maths and English:  Set weekly       Due in: Thursday        Set: Friday

  • Weekly home learning tasks are recorded in the front of your child’s home learning books and on the academy website.
  • If your child’s home learning books are not completed and/or not handed in on a Thursday you will be notified by text message (on a Thursday), informing you that your child will need to attend Home Learning Club on a Friday lunchtime to support them to complete their missing home learning.

Class reading books are chosen by the pupil and checked by the class teacher to ensure they are appropriate and challenging enough for your child.

Reading Expectations:

  • To read five times weekly for 10-15 minutes. This may include your child reading aloud to an adult or an adult reading aloud to your child.
  • Reading should be recorded and signed by an adult in the Reading Record.
  • Reading Records will be checked weekly on a Friday for the five reads.
  • If five reading entries have not been recorded by an adult, your child will attend Reading Club on a Friday break time to support your child with their reading.

Spellings: Your child will receive a weekly spelling list of 10 new words. They will be sent home in the blue spelling book and it is an expectation that these be practiced at home alongside the spelling lessons within the academy.

Your child will be checked on these 10 spellings every Friday and their scores will be recorded.

Times Tables: Please see Year 4 half termly curriculum notes for the focus for each half term. Your child can use Times Table Rockstars at home to support their times table knowledge.
