Our Chosen Charity
Our chosen charity for this academic year is Mind in Croydon.
Mind in Croydon is working to promote good mental health. It seeks to empower people to lead a full life as part of their local community.
To achieve these aims Mind in Croydon:
- Educates and provides services
- Campaigns and raises funds
- Works in partnership with other relevant organisations
- Values diversity and focuses on quality
- Involves service users and other volunteers in its work
Mind in Croydon is a mental health charity founded in 1967 and since then has developed into a significant provider of mental health services in Croydon.
At Harris Primary Academy Kenley, we also support other charities, both local and national. So far this academic year, we have supported Purley Food Hub and Children in Need.
Purley Food Hub: In November, our School Council visited Purley Food Hub to take all the donations made to HPAK as part of our September Community Champions challenge. After dropping off the donations, the children were assigned their roles and eagerly got stuck in to support Purley Food Hub’s volunteers. The children sorted donations into groups, checked and ordered food by expiry dates, labelled products, stocked up the stock shop for supporting services and even made up treat bags. A BIG thank you to Purley Food Hub for teaching our children about the incredible work you do.
